Have Yourself a Witchy New Year
With New Year’s Eve quickly approaching, I was thinking about ways to make it witchy. There is no wrong way to make your holidays witchy and there is nothing wrong with not doing any rituals. Your practice is your own and there are times when even I don’t feel like putting in a whole lot of effort.
Some ideas for some easy witchy activities for New Year’s Eve:
1. Reflect on the past year
Think about all that this year was. How have you grown in your practice? What rituals did you perform that you really connected with?
2. Make a Vision Board for 2026
What do you want to manifest for 2026? Be as creative as you want. Paper, digital, whatever you prefer.
3. Cleanse Your Space
New Year’s Eve and even New Year’s Day are good times to energetically cleanse your space. Smoke, sound, you can even yell or clap to remove stagnant energy from your home. Don’t forget to crack a window or door so the energy can leave your space.
4. Use Divination for the New Year
Use your favorite method, pendulum, runes, bones, cards…
If you use tarot, you can do something as simple as a three-card spread
- First card – What are you leaving in 2025?
- Second card – Your focus for 2026
- Third card – New opportunities for 2026
You can even pull a card for every month of 2026
5. Make a spell jar
Take a small jar and add a coin, cinnamon (prosperity), salt (protection), a written intention or sigil. Then close with white wax on the lid. Add any herbs, oils, or items that align with your intentions.
6. Spend time in nature
Take a walk, take in the moon, whatever you like. If it is windy, you can visualize the wind cleansing you of excess energies that aren’t your own, especially if you spend time at a party or where there were a lot of people.
7. Release Ritual
Write down things you don’t want to carry with you into 2026. Safely burn the paper, visualize the fire burning away anything that you want to release.
8. Practice Self Care
Take a ritual bath with herbs, oils, and salts for whatever intention, for example Self Love
9. Practice Gratitude
Journal all the things you are grateful for from 2025.
10. Meditate
Meditate on the morning of New Year’s Day to reset and relax.
I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s and great 2026.
