New Moon in Sagittarius and Yule

This week is a double feature, the New Moon in Sagittarius on December 19 and Yule beginning on December 21 and goes through January 1.

Let’s talk about the New Moon.

This is a powerful time for expansive spiritual growth.  It’s a good time to set visionary goals, travel intentions, and to seek deeper wisdom.  Think of it as planting seeds for big picture planning.

The themes for the New Moon are adventure, truth, freedom.  They encourage you to balance optimistic vision with practical steps.  Clear your mental clutter and align with your authentic path for the coming year.  Side note: awesome creator on Instagram, Polly Standeven (@northandsoul) made a post the other day talking about your Soul’s purpose and how to find what it is.  She stated that YOU are your Soul’s purpose and anything you do authentically is your Soul’s purpose.  As someone who has struggled with that idea for a long time, her words really resonated and stuck with me.

As far as Expansion and Vision go, it’s a great time for dreaming big.  Explore new philosophies and remember that it’s not always about the destination, sometimes it’s the journey.

For Truth and Freedom, it’s a potent time to speak your truth and release limitations.  If you have ever felt like you had to dim your light, hold back your truth, have been told that you are too much or too sensitive, or felt like you needed to hold back just to make yourself more palatable to others, you may want to look into healing the Witch Wound.

For Adventures, start planning future journeys, learning, and broadening your horizons.  Adventure doesn’t have to mean travel.  It is also a great time to try a new hobby, learn a new skill, anything you have been thinking about for a while.

For Introspection and Preparation, since it is the end of the year, it’s a time to reflect on the past year, clear mental fog, and prepare for the next cycle.

Rituals for working with the energy of this New Moon

-            Set 1 to 3 goals for growth, wisdom, travel, etc.

-            Journal what you want to manifest – hold a citrine or green aventurine for abundance for your manifestation (abundance isn’t always monetary)

-            Visualize your intentions unfolding like a horizon

-            Take action – think Mars in Capricorn energy (Mid-December) for focused, disciplined effort to make your dreams a reality.

Yule (December 21 – January 1)

If you didn’t know, many Christmas traditions started out as pagan Yule traditions.

Symbols for Yule – Bells, evergreen plants, fir, lights, candles, snowflakes, solar symbols, Yule Log, mistletoe, holly, sun wheel.  Side note: The tradition of the Yule Log is burning a large log during Winter Solstice to welcome longer days.  It symbolizes prosperity and cleansing the old woes for good fortune in the New Year.

The Yule Correspondences came from @helgahaze and The Hour of Witchery
