Witchy Wellness

It happens to all of us, we keep meaning to do self-care, but who has the time?  There is a saying that if your cup is empty, how will you fill others?  Even though we may feel like we don’t have time for ourselves, or we feel guilty spending time on ourselves, it really is important to take care of ourselves.

Here are some Witchy Wellness ideas that don’t take a lot of time, but can make you feel witchy, refreshed, and rested.

-            You know it’s always on every list that I make, Kitchen Witchery!  You can cook with intention; you were probably going to make dinner anyway.  Even if you are making stuff that comes from the freezer and goes into the microwave, you can ground yourself and infuse intention into the food you are about to eat.  Look at ingredients and assign intention based on what it has in it.  You don’t have to do anything terribly fancy for Kitchen Witchery, the most important thing is you and your intention and that is magick.  If you don’t feel like cooking or that doesn’t resonate, you could always make a simmer pot.  Look up ingredients like oranges, apples, cinnamon, salt, herbs and build your simmer pot.  It will make your house smell wonderful, too.

-            You can make a Beauty Altar.  Wherever you do your make-up, hair, or just get ready, have a little designated spot for your favorite self-care/beauty products.  You can write intentions (or a sigil) on a small piece of paper to have there, add a candle (if it’s safe) or an essential oil diffuser and you can choose oils based on your mood or intention.  Instead of paper, you can also write on your mirror with lipstick.

-            Something you can do after everyone has gone to bed is some moonlight journaling, shadow work, or meditation.

-            Take an herbal bath.  Choose relaxing herbs like lavender and rosemary for protection, purification, and relaxation.  Tip: If you use dried or fresh herbs, put them in a little mesh bag so they don’t clog your drain.

-            Make a crystal grid to reset your energy or intention.

-            Make a DIY Aura Mist:

·       4 oz distilled or filtered water

·       1 tablespoon witch hazel (alcohol-free)

·       10-15 drops total of essential oils:

·       For protection: rosemary, pine, or cedar

·       For calm: lavender or chamomile

·       For clarity: lemon, rosemary, or peppermint

·       For spiritual connection: frankincense or myrrh

·       Optional: small crystal (clear quartz, amethyst, or rose quartz)

Combine ingredients in a dark glass spray bottle. If adding a crystal, choose one small enough to fit through the bottle opening. Charge your mist under the moon, then use it to spray around your body, your space, or your pillow before sleep.

Sometimes the smallest things can have the biggest impact.  Take a few moments for yourself everyday to recharge, relax, have a cup of tea, take the time to do a face mask, use lotion that smells good, journal, or just take a few moments to sit with yourself and relax.  You deserve it.
